Shoulder Replacement.
Anatomic & reverse shoulder replacement for arthritis and cuff damage.
About this procedure
Shoulder replacement relieves pain and restores function when the joint is severely worn or the rotator cuff is irreparable. Depending on your anatomy, an anatomic or a reverse shoulder replacement is chosen.
It is considered for persistent pain and weakness that limits reaching, dressing and sleep despite conservative care.

Conditions & symptoms we treat
Shoulder osteoarthritis
Rotator cuff tear arthropathy
Complex proximal humerus fractures
Rheumatoid arthritis of the shoulder
Avascular necrosis of the humeral head
Failed previous shoulder surgery
Procedure & technique
After assessment with X-rays and CT, the worn surfaces are replaced with implants. A reverse replacement is used when the rotator cuff cannot be relied upon — it shifts the joint mechanics to the deltoid muscle to restore overhead movement. A sling protects the shoulder afterwards.
